Marksans was incorporated in 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and later spun-off into a separate entity - Glenmark Laboratories Ltd. ("GLL") in March 2003
subsequently
changed its name to "Marksans Pharma Ltd" in 2005.
In the year 2005, perhaps one of the biggest deals gripped the pharmaceuticals industry, the integrated alignment pact of Marksans Pharma Ltd with Tasc Pharmaceuticals Ltd (a research driven API Manufacturer) resulting in a creation of new entity: Marksans Pharma Ltd. With this successful integration the company has become an integrated player for both pharmaceuticals (based on chemical substances) and biopharmaceuticals.
The amalgamated entity has a business model with the potential to grow significantly due to wider product basket, better market access and a comprehensive R&D capacity, and plans to capture emerging business opportunities in niche therapeutics segments, biopharmaceuticals, CRAMS and drug discovery / development support services.
